I’m back after a short vacation in the real world (Montana, Yellowstone, Beartooth National Forest). While I was gone I didn’t blog but I did do quite a bit of thinking about the seismic impact AI’s emergence is having on society, and feel that we are “rushing into a darkened room, filled with swirling blades, landmines, and meat-grinders, or as my Mom would say, “running with scissors.” We, and more importantly the people we’ve elected to steer our ship of state, need a simple, intuitive tool to track AI’s status, developments, and trends, and how widely it’s benefits are shared beyond Silicon Valley and Wall Street – it’s impact on the livelihood, happiness and well-being of Humanity. Further, we need a mechanism for gaming out the impact of AI development plans, product launches, and AI legislative and regulatory decisions for the human species.
I don’t want to own this tool. I feel it should rather be owned a non-profit organization for the benefit of all humanity, supported by the masses. It should be international, not US-centric. It should give everyone a voice (as we all stakeholders of AI’s success, or failure).
In that spirit I offer this concept deck. Please check it out, comment, challenge, and if you’re so moved, reach out to me with your interest in getting involved. I am not an AI developer, Wall Street Titan, or Government Official; I am a human being. Their voices are already in the conversation, I hope to add the rest of us.
