Welcome to PONDER US. I’m Jeff Boortz. I am a human-being just like you struggling to comprehend the profound changes occurring all around me. I am equal parts terrified and thrilled to be living through the early days of AI. The computer, after all, is only a few years older than me (I turned 64 yesterday). And the internet that connects all the computers in the world to you and each other, was also developed in my lifetime. But each of these profound human inventions are dwarfed by the power- promise and threat – of artificial intelligence. AI may save us. It may destroy us. Or it might loose interest in our primitive antics and leave us to destroy ourselves. What will happen in the remainder of my lifetime is unclear. What is clear is that it is an exciting time to be alive. So I’m going to write down my thoughts, and chronicle my conversations and collaborations with AI in the hope that reading these posts sparks ideas and actions in bigger minds than mine.
